| The
Mayor's Office of Employment Development provides various training services
to customers entering the job market for the first time, re-entering the
job market after a long period of time and customers seeking a career
change. Examples of training includes, class size skills training in a
college setting, direct on-the-job training with an employer or independent
study through vouchers.
ARRA OCCUPATIONAL SKILLS TRAINING
Through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA), MOED is providing more than 300 training opportunities in a variety of industries for unemployed/underemployed adults and dislocated workers. The intent of ARRA is to create and retain jobs, to retool the skills of American workers and re-establish them in viable career pathways, and to increase services and training for workers in need. These occupational skills training services will assist Baltimore City residents in acquiring 21st century skills resulting in jobs in high demand, high growth industries with livable wages.
The August ARRA Partner Forum provided information to workforce development professionals interested in connecting job seekers to these skills trainings. Job seekers being referred from workforce partners to MOED's One-Stop Career Centers should bring the completed the Partner Referral Form with them.

Additionally, Skills Scholarships will be available through several local community colleges allowing job seekers to enroll in one year or less certificate programs that lead to an industry recognized credential. IC3
Internet and Computing Core Certification:
The Digital Learning Labs offer IC3 courseware and certification. IC3
certification provides an Internationally recognized credential that increases
a students technical knowledge and skills . This particular certification
allows for employment and academic advancements. Currently, the Digital
Learning Labs offer IC3 courseware and certification. Students are able
to study for the IC3 certification exam, and be tested in our IC3 certified
testing and training centers.
The Internet and Computing Core Certification (IC3) is fast becoming the
global standard for basic computer certification.
This particular
certification involves the following areas:
