YouthWorks 2010

Summer jobs launch careers is the theme for Baltimore City's YouthWorks campaign. Baltimore City youth and young adults, ages 14-24, will develop the essential work skills that today's employers require, and many will discover their true career interests during the summer of 2010. YouthWorks provides well-prepared, multi-skilled, and dependable high school and college students who are eager to work. While the program benefits youth by allowing them to explore careers and better understand the value of education, it also enriches businesses by giving them access to a talented and energetic labor pool of motivated workers.

YouthWorks 2010 operates from June 28 - August 6. Click here to learn more about the program.

B’more for Healthy Babies

B’more for Healthy Babies is a Baltimore City Health Department initiative built on the realization that reducing infant deaths will happen only if people throughout the community play a part – whether it’s the leaders of the key city agencies, physicians, nurses and social workers; community groups and teachers; or fathers, grandmothers, caregivers and pregnant women themselves.

BMORE Fit

BMOREFIT was developed in response to a community meeting on gang violence. Gangs provide a sense of purpose, support, and connection that most of us receive from a team, family, or loving friends. BMORE Fit creates positive, constructive outlets that share the transformative power of fitness through a program that also trains youth to find purpose through a mobile career path in a growth industry. Successful participants become certified YMCA group fitness professionals, and go into their communities to help combat childhood obesity.
